Be part of the change

History

Basq was born as the result of a dream: our goal was blending passion for surf, fashion and concern for the environment.

It all started with the idea of shoes that were the most sustainable and committed to the planet and the ocean.

After more than two years of research and work we managed to transform some of the ocean’s worst waste like plastic and tyres, into our 100% recycled trainers.

The brand and the product have been extended beyond this original idea based on shoes and we have added different items, always being faithful to our spirit of sustainable design and 100% recycling.

Our name Basq comes from the place where the idea was born; it comes from the astonishing cliffs that shape out the landscape of our land. Lashed by the Cantabrian sea, we have been permanent observers of the fierceness of the sea, of the strength of its waves, of the beauty of nature. It is precisely the sea that bathes our shores that served as inspiration to create Basq.

However, not only the sea, the waves and the cliffs are part of our landscape. Our logo is a good example of this. The image of the surfer walking while holding a surfboard has become as common as the waves themselves. Wherever there are waves, we will be there.

The surfer also represents sports people, men and women, people of the sea committed to the resource that gives them so much and worried about the planet as a whole. This is why Basq’s logo could be no other.
